honestly i think some lgb people are just buttmad about being called ‘sexuals’ because then they’re lumped in with straight people. it has fuckall to do with gay people being historically ‘sexualized’ or some shit since straight people would be equally sexualized by the term.
Actually referring to people as “sexuals” ends up reinforcing racist stereotypes of POC, especially WOC, as hypersexualized, so it’s best to not use “sexuals” to refer to people who are not asexual-spectrum. Allosexual & consexual are alternative terms that do not reinforce the racist stereotypes.
